October half term

06th Oct 2022

October half term can be the trickiest week off school to occupy curious minds. The weather has turned, the evenings are darker and enthusiasm to get outside can be much harder to muster.

So, we’ve come up with a few ideas to inspire some indoor/outdoor activity to break the monotony, without breaking the bank.

Go Ape – 5% Cashback

Perhaps a curious choice given the time of year, but what better time to visit your local woodlands and forests than during autumn? But younger minds and shorter legs can be hard to entice with long country walks, so Go Ape can be a great way to not only introduce your younglings to nature, but a fantastic way to get some hidden exercise in a fun environment.

With 35 locations across the country, Go Ape is suitable for most ages, abilities and locations. They can even offer help to those less mobile or with restricted movement. Their Tree Top Challenge is great for adventurous adults and kids over 10, while their Treetop Adventure is perfect for younger children over 1m tall. For visitors who prefer to keep their feet on the ground, many Go Ape sites offer more terra firma adventures like Segways, Axe Throwing and Mini Land Rovers.

Find your local Go ape to book your autumn adventure.

Trampoline Parks – Free jump time for CSSC members

Another fantastic way to get your kids exercising without noticing the effort is trampolining. We offer great deals on local and national trampoline parks with some even providing up to 60 minutes free jump time exclusively for CSSC members.

But if you thought trampolining was just for kids, you’d be wrong. Tests have shown that any trampolining, preferably daily, can help improve the lymphatic system. The continuous movement is a whole-body workout, so it’s good for joints, muscles, heart, lungs, cardiovascular and lymphatic systems. With celebrities like Goldie Hawn sharing their passion for trampolining on social media.

However, we know public exercise is not for everyone, so, if you’re not ready to visit one of these excellent parks, you could always explore our discounts of up to 10% cashback on home trampolines and trampets.

Buzz Trampoline Park – Mid & West Glamorgan

Flip Out - Glasgow

Jump in – Hertfordshire

Cinema – up to 33% off tickets

It’s an obvious choice at this time of year, with many studios releasing the half term family friendly flicks as well as their Halloween offerings. Especially as it’s indoors, warm and more snacks and treats on tap than you could imagine. Remember to check local listings but purchase your tickets through CSSC to Cineworld, ODEON, Picturehouse, Vue and many others, to get some of the best prices around for any screen type or blockbuster release. You can get your individual tickets through us, but you can also get your annual passes for Cineworld or ODEON, which can make great presents or year-round treats for yourself and saves you a bundle if you're a regular filmgoer.

Don’t forget to pick up voucher codes for even more great savings on all your snacks and treats at Cineworld.

Or, if you love film, but you’d like to try something a little different, have you ever considered one of the many open-air or drive-in movie screens that are popping up throughout the country? And save 10% in the process.

One of the benefits of darker evenings is you can simply drive up to the screen, tune your stereo to the right frequency, sit back, relax and munch on your favourite treats from home.

Ten Pin Bowling – up to 50% off

A classic birthday party choice of the 80s, bowling is still one of the best ways to have fun, while getting some exercise. And with our offers and partners, you can save up to 50% off lanes at some of the best bowling alleys in the country.

You can save 50% on off-peak bowling and 10% during peak bowling at AMF and Hollywood bowls.

Bowling is great for all ages, abilities and disabilities, it’s a low-impact sport and most importantly it’s some fun, friendly competition among family members. Most bowling centres will offer hot and cold food, together with other activities like arcades, pool, snooker or even laser tag.
