Active Wellbeing in Civil Service World

12th Jan 2023

For more than a decade Civil Service World (CSW) has kept all civil servants from across the spectrum up to date and informed on what’s happening across government, from people to policies.

And so, we’re delighted to share with you their recent article on this years’ Active Wellbeing, encouraging greater participation across the Service with the help of Adam Land, Senior Director at the Competition and Markets Authority.

Mental health Champion, Adam Land, heads up the Remedies Business and Financial Analysis group at the Competition and Markets Authority and has long been an advocate for the benefits of physical activity on mental health.  Adam writes and talks extensively on his experiences of health and wellbeing having trained for and competed in the London Duathlon and appearing at the ‘This Can Happen’ conference speaking on his personal experiences of returning to work after a sudden bereavement.

Adam’s encouragement to join Active Wellbeing 2023 (AW23) is well received and a welcome endorsement of a ’vital and fun initiative’, which we hope will entice more people than ever before to take part and to get more active.

Active Wellbeing Around-the-World Challenge 1-28 February

For the first time ever, Active Wellbeing will be hosted throughout February and encourages the civil service and public sector to be more active by inviting everyone to join the challenge.

This year’s challenge is to virtually navigate around the world by logging steps or daily activity and collectively encompassing the entire globe through 70 countries and 100,000 kilometres.

Participants can manually log or automatically sync their smart wearable devices to record any activity they choose, whether playing sport, exercising or daily steps.  You’ll be helped along the way with loads of content, courses and classes to keep you inspired and motivated.

Registering is simple and everyone who joins in will not only find a great community to increase their activity but could also win some awesome fitness prizes along the way. Starting with receiving a free gift of six months of OS Maps Premium subscription, just for registering.

You can read the full CSW article below and register for this year’s Active Wellbeing Around-the-World Challenge before 27 January.
