Scottish Skittles Championship 2020 Report
Firstly, I sincerely apologise for the late submission of this report, for a variety of reasons but mainly as explained below.
Due to uncertainty surrounding the future of Rosyth Civil Service Club, combined with 2020 being the 25th anniversary of the current format of the National Skittles finals, I sought and received HQ approval to
advance our 2020 Scottish qualifier, normally held in February each year, to December 2019 in an attempt to ensure that Scotland could be represented at this prestigious event.
The Scottish Skittles Championship, which also doubles as the Regional Qualifier for the National Championships played at Cheltenham, were, therefore, once again held at Rosyth Civil Service Sports Club on Sunday 1 December 2019.
Despite our best efforts once again to attract entries from Areas outwith Rosyth, unfortunately we didn't succeed. On this occasion, we had 10 teams entered, two less than for the 2019 qualifier. In total, 44 players took part on the day, with quite a few Club members providing plenty of background support and encouragement.
As always though, all the games were played with the usual enthusiasm and sportsmanship, and while also done so very competitively, the usual good humour prevailed with participants giving full encouragement to
their 'rivals' as has become the norm not only for this event but as is also the case during our weekly league and other competitions.
After another (long!) day's competition with a number of participants in close contention right through to the conclusion, the following players will represent Scotland at the National Finals being played at Cheltenham Civil Service Club on Saturday 6 June 2020:

It goes without saying that, once again, we look forward to taking part on this special occasion and to renewing acquaintances (and rivalry!!) with fellow skittlers from England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
