Bird Watching Morning

Join our experts for a morning of bird watching. Take a closer look at the variety of birds on our wetland reserve and maybe spot something new!

Wear weather appropriate clothing and comfortable footwear. Bring own binoculars or a pair can be hired from reception.

Dawn Flights

Experience the haunting sound and the thrill of an early morning hide visit with a warden with our Dawn Flights event. You'll have exclusive access to our Discovery Hide from 7am. The Discovery Hide has great views over the mere which at this time of year is packed full of migrating pink footed geese. Sit in the comfort of the hide and watch as the sun rises and thousands of pink footed geese awaken on the mere and take off in a honking flurry - you won't see a better sight in nature!

Your experience ends with a delicious full English breakfast in our cafe, a perfect end to an unforgettable experience.

Late Night Opening: Goose Spectacular

Date: Saturdays 3 October – Saturday 31 October (Wednesdays and Saturdays only)

Witness the spectacle of tens of thousands of pink footed geese coming in to roost at Martin Mere. Every Wednesday and Saturday in October, our Discovery Hide will be open until 7pm* to give you the opportunity to see upto 40,000 pink footed geese whiffle over the mere as the autumn sun is setting.

These evenings are free to attend and you don't need to pay for admission if you arrive after 17:00.

Catch the Tide

Join us to see one of the highest tides of the year on the Severn Estuary which should wash over the Dumbles and reach the seawall, all viewed from the comfort of our new Estuary Tower Hide.

We’ll have extra Guides in Hides on duty to help show you the spectacle and the wildlife being pushed inland by the rising waters at this magical time of the year.

Sketch to screen print workshop for kids

Date: Thursday 22 October – Saturday 24 October
Time: 10:00 – 12:00 or 14:00 – 16:00

Book a fun two hour session for your kids to learn how to take a sketch to screen-print with Nicola Bramley, as featured on BBC Countryfile.

The workshop will guide you through how to make a field sketch, design and cut paper stencils, screen print onto fabric. All to create a tote bag with an individual design, to take home at the end of the session.
