Major Awards 2017

This year’s Awards Ceremony celebrated the commitment and achievements of volunteers and members  across CSSC.

Sportsperson Award

The Sportsperson Award recognises a member who has made a significant impact on CSSC activity and sport, either as a player or a volunteer in one particular year or over a number of years.

The Hayward Trophy

The Hayward Trophy is given to the CSSC Sports Body that has achieved the most for its activity in a specific year.

Duke of York Trophy

The Duke of York Trophy is awarded to the Departmental Association with the best all round record in national CSSC sport.

Russell Scott Trophy

The coveted Russell Scott Trophy is awarded to the Area Association with the best all round record in the year.

The winners of this trophy are Portsmouth Area Association however Anglia and Manchester Area Associations were highly commended.

Winner: Plymouth Area Association
Derby and Notts, Glasgow and Tyne and Wear and Northumberland Area Associations were highly commended.

Merit Awards

This scheme recognises those CSSC volunteers who have shown highly meritorious service over a sustained period of time and have made a significant impact in one or more areas.

The criteria are stringent with a maximum of ten awards being made in any one year.

For 2017, the Chairman decided to give seven awards to individuals who had shown outstanding loyalty and commitment to CSSC. Four of these awards were presented in the Awards Ceremony to.

Lord Turnbull Award for Volunteer of the Year

Winner: Jackie Ilderton, North East region.

John Whittaker Fellowship Award

The John Whittaker Fellowship Award annually honours a member who has made a major impact on CSSC during their membership through sustained highly meritorious volunteering. For 2017 the award was given to Ian Allen OBE for his voluntary contribution to the CCSSC Eastern region spanning more than 35 years.
