The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Challenge 2022

21st Mar 2022

On 18 May 2022, CSSC will be holding the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Challenge at Battersea Park, London. Why not sign up and join in this once-in-a-lifetime 5K run, walk, wheelchair race or 10K run, to mark this momentous occasion?

Whether you’re a runner, walker or wheelchair user, you are invited to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a run, walk, sprint or stroll around Battersea Park. You don’t have to be a professional runner, in fact, you don’t have to have ever put on a pair of running shoes before. It’s a brilliant chance to soak up the terrific atmosphere of an organised run around one of London’s most iconic and much-loved parks.

Hurry! Sign up today

In partnership with the Civil Service Athletics Association, we’re hosting this remarkable event to coincide with the upcoming Jubilee as one of our first and primary celebration events.

"I’ve never taken part in an organised run before"

It’s open to all CSSC members, as well as non-members too. So, whatever your level of fitness or mobility it represents a fabulous opportunity to meet and greet other members of the civil service and public sector from all over the country. To make life-long connections and like-minded friends across hundreds of other departments and institutions, you may never usually get a chance to meet.

Our running events are so well organised that they make a brilliant first step to either increasing your activity, getting back into running after perhaps a winter, or much longer break, or even for those more accomplished athletes looking to improve their time and also for those with aspirations of winning.

What’s included?

As well as the perfect opportunity to kick-start your active year in the sun (hopefully), taking part in an organised CSSC event brings with it a wealth of reasons to sign up and take part.

  • Entry into the competition of your choice (5K, run, walk, wheelchair race, or a 10K run)
  • Commemorative medal to mark the occasion for all finishers
  • CSSC medals will be presented to CSSC member winners.
  • Electronic chipping to track your 10K race
  • Secure manned storage for small personal items
  • Water stations around the course and finish line
  • First aid, toilet and changing facilities
  • Prize draws-

It saves to be a member of CSSC

It only costs CSSC members just £5 to take part in this brilliant run. Because it costs non-members only £10, which is still a great price for a well-organised run like this, but it would save runners money if they joined CSSC, even if it’s only to just take up this opportunity of running and explore our brilliant savings and offers for runners and ramblers.

What’s more, as a CSSC member, if you take part in the 10K run, you can claim back some travel expenes to get there.

So, please use this as an opportunity to tell your friends and colleagues who qualify for CSSC membership about CSSC and all the brilliant savings, experiences and opportunities members get, like this. Plus, don’t forget, even if friends don’t qualify through their employment, you can still link them to your membership.

Even if friends aren’t runners or into fitness, this run is such a great way to introduce CSSC to others who may wish to benefit from our savings, communities, events and experiences.

Volunteer with CSSC

It’s the volunteers who not only make these brilliant events happen, but make them shine too. So, if you’re not quite ready to don your trainers yet, why not volunteer your time to help hundreds of competitors get around and test themselves or simply to cheer on friends, family or colleagues.

We need marshals, organisers, administration and loads more roles which help make this the best running event of the year. It can count towards your offices’ volunteering and community day and should be a fab day out in the sun, helping others.
