Throughout August our Summer of Sport highlighted loads of fun activities and ideas to help get you into sport and perhaps try something you’ve never considered before.
It was a huge success and loads of you got in touch to say how much you enjoyed making use of the nice weather.
Our most popular activities were walking, hiking, cycling and running. Thanks to our great offers and community groups, you really got involved and helped blaze a trail for future trekkers. So much so in fact, that both our facebook groups and Strava groups, for all our sports and activities, have grown by hundreds of new members over the summer.
Check them out, if you haven’t already. They’re really fun, it’s a great way to meet like-minded people and you can learn and share your favourite tips and routes with others.
They say a picture paints a thousand words, so we asked our members to send us their photos of them getting active. It could be any activity and include any member of their family.
We had a phenomenal response and our judges had a great time choosing their favourites, which they thought best captured the ethos of CSSC - keeping fit, while having fun.
We chose one winner, who took home £150 of Amazon vouchers and three runners up, who each received £30 of amazon vouchers.
Andrew H - paddle boarding down the local waterways in Yorkshire.
- Clare L - Boogie boarding in South Wales.
- Steven C – Twilight bike ride at Derwent Water in the Lake District.
- Steve W – Family nature ramble at Conic Hill near Loch Lomond.
Walking, running and cycling
Over the summer we also ran some prize giveaways to encourage members to take up some of the UK’s most popular sports. Running, cycling and walking.
We asked you to join our Strava groups and submit either a 5km run, an 8km walk, or 8km cycle and we selected our lucky winners at random, who each took home £50 of Amazon vouchers.
Our walking winners were:
- Kay B
- Melanie T
- Angela B
Our running winners were:
- Andrew T
- Nicola E
- Timothy P
Our cycling winners were:
- Sharon H
- Dave M
- Matt H
Our special winner of a set of Icon2 bike lights from See.Sense, just in time for the darker evening rides, was Paul Fricker who celebrated World Cycling Day in July!
Keep your eyes peeled for loads more competitions coming up over the next few months. And in the meantime, don’t forget to check out our communities and deals with all our partners.
