Stress Awareness Month has been held every April since 1992 to raise awareness of the causes and cures for modern stress. This year the theme is ‘Community’ and as CSSC members you have a world of opportunity to help alleviate the daily stresses we all feel, by utilising the many CSSC membership benefits specially designed to help unite, engage and enthral members.
Ten:four is our ongoing wellness platform providing videos, ideas and tools to help you take ten minutes out, four times a week, just for you. To provide you with the space, time and opportunity to relax, try a new hobby and grow in confidence as you spend time on you.
Take a look at our growing library of 10-minute videos ranging from self-defence to learning a new language. One may just provide the inspiration you’re looking for to explore a new activity that helps you to de-stress.
CSSC life is our free, comprehensive health and wellbeing platform which provides hundreds of hours of content, courses, classes, apps, tutorials and tips on nutrition, fitness, exercise, sleep and relaxation with the help of step counters, calendars, podcasts and many other tools.
As the adage goes, “A problem shared is a problem halved”. There is good evidence to suggest that time spent with friends, family, colleagues or simply like-minded groups can reduce stress and anxiety and actually help resolve conflicts and issues.
Our growing virtual and in-person communities in walking, reading, gardening and sports are a great way to meet others and share your passions and hobbies with others to focus more on what matters to you.
Our heritage and botanic sites are one of our members’ favourite ways to relax and unwind. Whether Kew Gardens, Wakehurst, English Heritage, Cadw or Historic Scotland, the benefits of exploring ancient and cultural locations, buildings and gardens with friends and family are legion. Not only do they provide fabulous and informative walks and views for all ages, but they’re also a great way to put stresses into perspective and to leave modern influences at the gate or portcullis.
Podium members’ magazine
This month’s issue of Podium features many great articles on ways to explore the country, connect with others and leave stress at home. From walking your way to relaxation and tranquil cycling holidays to sports, yoga, foraging and volunteering.
