Following feedback from the Area Treasurers in 2019 on some challenges the previous year in getting the books to balance, we ran a treasurer support session in Huntingdon this January. All Treasurers were invited to attend the meeting, which was supported by Latha and Margaret from finance and Lucy (VTL) to help overcome any challenges they faced this year with regards to the end of year finances and to learn if they had similar queries to others in the room.
The meeting was well attended, with four of the seven areas represented. We also had the chance to go through other IT issues, so overall a really useful afternoon spent by all. The Treasurers in attendance had all their questions answered, ensuring member’s money is managed correctly thus enabling Areas to support recruitment and retention of new members.
It has been agreed that a similar event will be planned for next year, so if you are thinking of volunteering as a Treasurer or Assistant Treasurer at your Areas AGM please don’t be discouraged-there is plenty of support available to you and we would love to have you on board.
