Our last family outing of the year proved to be a huge success with our CSSC members from the Swindon Area.
We had two full coaches of 104 people heading to the Longleat Festival of Lights with more unfortunately on the waiting list. After a pickup in Chippenham we arrived on time for our 11am slot
It was a frosty but sunny morning so our first stop in the Jungle Village was very welcome. Hot drinks and ‘enormous’ sausage rolls seemed to be the order of the day.
After the break, we set off on the safari tour. Not many animals were brave enough to leave the warmth of their shelters but the monkeys were out in force. We bypassed this enclosure but it was funny to watch them climbing all over the cars and walking away with wiper blades. Amongst the animals we did see were tigers, lions and wolves so I think everyone was pleased with that.
Legends and myths
The theme of the lights this year was Legends and Myths and as usual it was a fantastic display. Our group ticket included entry to the safari, house and a boat ride.
When evening came and the natural light faded, the atmosphere changed completely. It seemed quite magical. The park was full to capacity so there were lots of people walking around with hot mulled wines and excited children in tow.
Back on the coach and a round of applause for the organisers.
