After winter decided to give us one final blast of ice and snow before it says goodbye for 2018, most of us are unsure whether to wash our woollies or keep them handy for another sudden surge. As the excitement of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics dies down, it’s not difficult to feel lingering inspiration from the incredible performances this year. Whether it was Red Gerard’s carefree gold-medal debut, Adam Rippon’s spellbinding figure skating or Simen Krueger’s extraordinary come back in the cross-country skiing, it’s always motivating to see others achieve their dreams.
Finding the motivation and discipline to achieve your own personal fitness or health goals, whether it’s entering a half marathon, doing the desk to 5k or simply getting to your next milestone, is not always easy. It means you have keep at it even when you don’t feel like it or won’t perform your best, and it means you must be prepared to push through the comfort zone every once in a while.
The Parkrun Challenge 2018 is an excellent motivator for anyone seeking to improve their speed or fitness. The events are free, weekly, timed 5k runs taking place every Saturday morning for people of all running abilities, held in parks and open spaces all over the UK.
For every parkrun you take part in between (and including) Sat 3 February 2018 – Sat 27 October 2018. Email CSSC at email@example.com and register CSSC Sport & Leisure as your park running club at http://www.parkrun.org.uk/, print off the barcode and bring it along to each run to be automatically entered into monthly prize draws. The more times you participate the better your chances of picking up a prize.

We’ve launched the sports events calendar for 2018 and it’s jam-packed with competitions, tours and tournaments. Some of the national and regional highlights include the CSAA Road Relays in London, National Pool Finals in Stone on Trent, National Archery Championships, the Barbados Sports tour, hill walking in Harrogate, Racketball tournament in Nottinghamshire and even Beach Volleyball in Brighton.
