CSSC Touch Rugby: Representing England at European Touch Championships 2018

The 2018 European Touch Championships took place in Nottingham 18-21 July comprising of over 1200 athletes competing across four days. The event was streamed live on the BBC and by the conclusion of Finals day on Saturday, there were big wins for hosts England and for CSSC Touch, seeing as the south-west London based club provided the most amount of members to the whole tournament.

The club's players won gold medals in the Women's 35s, Men's 35s, Men's 30s, Women's 27s and Men's Open divisions with Dan Wines captaining the Men's 30s and Chris Wall captaining the 35s. The club also contributed three team coaches, two full time referees and one team manager.

A special mention must go to Claire Traynor, who was the highest touchdown scorer for the Women's 27s with a total of 17, and Will Simpson who was equal highest scorer in the Men's 30s with a total of 14, who then picked up the ‘Players' Player of the Championships’ award from his team mates. The club's players will now be focussing on the Nationals in Cambridge at the end of August and preparations for the 2019 Touch World Cup in Malaysia next April.
