The Phil James Memorial Trophy

Tom James wants to thank you for all of your support in hosting what was a very successful charity football match, in May 2016, which has now been dubbed 'The Phil James Memorial Trophy.' The score is not important but the Welsh Government ran out winners on the night; which saw five goals, a missed penalty, a few handbags and the best post match curry and chips I have ever had.

£2500 was raised in memory of Tom James's uncle Phil James, a legend at Rodney Parade and with the Newport Gwent Dragons. This could not have happened without the kind support of the following:

  • Rodney Parade
  • CSSC Wales
  • the Welsh Government
  • the National Assembly for Wales
  • Bowel Cancer UK
  • all of the players
  • the irrepressible James family

The success of the event just shows what is possible when people from different walks of life work together. We are all looking forward to doing this on a much bigger scale next year and continuing my Uncle's legacy at Rodney Parade.
