Volunteer Week 2021
Innovation Award 2020
Congratulations to Maria Kerr
In 2015 we introduced the Innovation Award. It celebrates an affiliated association, club, regional council, national sports organiser or regional organiser that has introduced an innovative project, leading to a major, positive impact on CSSC.
When lockdown began Maria sprang into action for LR Leisure and she was delivering on line virtual events including quizzes, bingo, board games and other on-line competitions. Maria introduced monthly challenges that would allow people to stay involved throughout the month, giving them purpose, challenges and goals to achieve both physically and mentally. Aside from the wellbeing gains from these challenges they enabled people to feel connected and in many cases not alone. She marked the achievement of everyone who took part with tokens of recognition from medals to coasters, fridge magnets to notebooks.
An incredible testament to her innovation she almost single handily put together our L’euRovision song contest with 24 video entrants, a voting facility, and 14 office spokespeople, over 500 Zoom connections. She followed that up with a Winter Wonderland zoom event that included, performances and reflections that attracted over 800 participants.
Congratulations to Maria on winning the Innovation Award this year.
Additional Quotes from Hedley Featherstone
The Land Registry is fully aware, wholly supportive and openly clear in its acclamation of the role Maria and LR leisure have had in supporting it’s staff through 2020. Maria was awarded a Chief Executive’s Award.
In December last year, Maria emailed me after I had announced on their Winter Wonderland event she was to receive a Certificate of Recognition saying “ I apologise for not responding to you sooner. It’s been an incredibly busy month both in work and LR Leisure. I’m delighted to be able to say that I am HM Land Registry’s new Health and Wellbeing Consultant so expect to be working even more closely with the CSSC now
