CSSC Games 2022

Sports Formats

Will be a Western round under Archery GB rules for registered archers. This will include 4 dozen arrows at 60 yards and 4 dozen arrows from 50 yards. As things stand the competitions are for Longbows and Recurve Bows. We are awaiting confirmation if Compound Bows will be allowed.  

Thursday: Non registered archers are invited to participate in a taster archer session.

The actual timings to be based on entries and can be modified within limits.

Mixed doubles competition.

The format is subject to change once final numbers are known.

4  groups of 5, so all getting 4 games (2 to 21 no setting).

Scores would define tied teams in standings if needed.

Top two from each group to quarter-finals, semi-final and Final.

The bottom three from each group do a plate knockout event, down to a final

The competition will follow a round-robin format. Winners of the group stages will go on to the semi-finals/final. The maximum number of teams to enter is 8 so please book early to avoid disappointment. There will be two divisions with 4 teams in each division. The format of the competition lends itself to cater for all standards.

Registration for Basketball Teams at the Basketball Courts is 08.30am on the Thursday

A team shall consist of a squad of up to 10 players with 5 players on the court at one time. At least one member of each gender must be on the court at all times.

Are you interested in playing rapid play chess? 

This is a singles competition and we welcome entrants at whatever level from beginner up to national standard. 

The format of the competition will be 25 minutes to make all your moves so that we can fit five rounds during the day.  Depending on the number of entries, it is expected that there will be one section using a swiss pairing system. It will be both fun and competitive

Foil, Epee and Sabre Ladies and Men’s competitions will be run on the day

It is open to all levels of play and it helps us seed the competition if we know competitors' experience and we need to know which weapon they would like to enter.

Each event will be one or two rounds (depending on the size of the entry) of mixed (men & women) poules. This is followed by Separate Men’s and Women’s direct elimination (based on seeding from both rounds).

An additional Plate competition will be run for fencers knocked out in the first round.

A team shall consist of a squad of up to 10 players with 6 players on the pitch at any one time. Rolling subs will be in use.

The competition will follow a round-robin format. The maximum number of teams to enter is 18 so please book early to avoid disappointment. The format of the competition lends itself to cater for all standards.

Registration for Men's Masters Football is 9:30am on Thursday. 

A team shall consist of a squad of up to 10 players with 6 players on the pitch at any one time. Everyone taking part must be aged 35 years or over. Rolling subs will be in use.

The competition will follow a round-robin format. The maximum number of teams to enter is 12 so please book early to avoid disappointment. There will be two divisions with 6 teams in each division. The format of the competition lends itself to cater for all standards.

Registration for Men's Open Football is 9:30am on Thursday. 

A team shall consist of a squad of up to 10 players with 5 players on the pitch at one time. Rolling subs will be in use.

 This is a pairs golf event. The maximum number of pairs to enter is 40 so please book early to avoid disappointment. The format of the competition lends itself to cater for all standards.

Mixed hockey squads of up to 16 men and women (8 men and 8 women) competing. The competition will be run on 2 pitches - 1 newly laid water-based pitch and 1 Astroturf pitch. 

Rules

  1. All players must be subscribing to members of CSSC. 
  2. The duration of the games, the timetable and the format of the competition will be advised prior to the event after all entries have been received. (The competition will be run as a Round Robin or Groups competition depending on the number of entries received.)
  3. The games will be played in accordance with FIH (International Hockey Federation) rules with the following amendment:
  4. Teams shall consist of eleven players on the pitch:
    • A goalkeeper who may be male or female (all appropriate safety gear must be worn at all times of play)
    • There can be no more than five male outfield players on the pitch at any one-time
    • Squad sizes will not exceed sixteen players
    • No player may represent more than one team during the tournament
    • The first-named team will provide the match ball
    • In the event of a colour clash, the second named team will change.
  1. The organisers reserve the right to change the rules in any way to benefit the tournament.
  2. If semi-finals are played and there is no winning team at full time then penalty flicks will be taken - five nominated players to take from each team. (If the result still remains drawn after this, then sudden death penalties will ensue - the five original players will be permitted to take again followed by other members of the team on the pitch at the end of the match). Penalties will be taken alternately by the teams.
  3. If a final is played and there is no winning team at full time, the teams will change ends and play a further five minutes each way. If there is still no result then penalties will be taken as in 6.
  4. If group games have been played and there is a tie for finishing positions in the group then the following will be applied:
    • Goal difference
    • Goals for
    • Goals against
    • The result of the game of the tied teams
  1. If teams are still equal after this has been computed then penalty flicks will take place (following the guidelines in 7).
  2. In any dispute over the rules, the decision of the organisers will be final.

Pairs competition. Format to be confirmed.

Games included Scrabble, Dominoes and a Quiz.

Each section will be scored separately then combined at the end of the day to produce the overall winner.

The competition will be a pairs endurance event. The maximum number of teams to enter is 16 so please book early to avoid disappointment. The format of the competition lends itself to cater for all standards.

Registration for Karting at the Daytona Tamworth is 11:00 am on Friday

The competition will follow a seeded round-robin format. The maximum number of teams to enter is 14 so please book early to avoid disappointment. There will be two divisions with 7 teams in each division. The format of the competition lends itself to cater for all standards.

Registration for Ladies Netball Teams at the Netball Courts is 9.00am on the Thursday.

A team shall consist of a squad of up to 10 players with 7 players on the court at one time.

The competition will follow an open round-robin format. The maximum number of teams to enter is 14 so please book early to avoid disappointment. There will be two divisions with 7 teams in each division. The format of the competition lends itself to cater for all standards.

Registration for Mixed Netball Teams at the Netball Courts is 9.00am on the Friday.

A team shall consist of a squad of up to 10 players with 7 players (ratio of 4 Females and 3 Males) on the court at one time.

All photos are to be taken within the Loughborough University campus.

The winner and runner up will be awarded in each category and the best overall photo will also be selected. 

Terms & Conditions
1. The CSSC Games Photography Competition is open to all members of CSSC Sports & Leisure 
2. Members may submit up to three photos per theme for the competition taken by them on the day of the event.
3. Competition results will be announced on the afternoon of the event as well as posted on the CSSC website.
4. The award of prizes shall be at CSSC's discretion and the judge's decision shall, in all matters, be final. 
6. CSSC may, at its absolute discretion, publish photos via any media for reasonable promotional purposes. 
7. The submission of entries shall be regarded as acceptance of these terms and conditions.

Singles competition. The format will be confirmed once the final numbers have been confirmed.

This competition is open to all levels of play.

Group basis (4 groups of 4). Starting at 09:00 group stages would end at 15:00. The top 2 teams go through to quarter and bottom 2 go through to plate.

Mixed Teams of 10 + 2 reserves (7 bats, 10 fields) consisting of a minimum of 4 female players

This is a singles event and is open to all standards of player. Competitors will be seeded based on experience and placed in teams. Teams will play against each other using a quick, zippy format with timed games, where all points count towards a team total. The event should be both fun and competitive.

Men’s and Ladies Singles will start on Thursday at 12:00. The remainder straight knockouts will be run on Friday.

There will be 9 separate competitions running at the 2022 CSSC Games. These are as follows:

  • Men's Over 40s Singles
  • Men's Over 60s Singles
  • Women's Over 40s Singles
  • Women's Over 60s Singles
  • Non-League Players Singles

Depending on entries the competitions will run on a group format with the top 2 pairs or players going into a knockout competition. The rest of the group will be entered into a knock out plate competition. The format of each event is at the discretion of the organiser.

In the event of there being insufficient entries, in any event, it may become necessary to merge events. This will be done at the discretion of the organiser.

Single, doubles and mixed doubles events. Timing and schedules TBC

This will be a pairs event. The event will start at 10:00 on the Friday. Three games will be played in the morning session and a further three in the afternoon. This competition will be open to all standards of bowlers. 

The competition will follow a round-robin format. The maximum number of teams to enter is 12 so please book early to avoid disappointment. The format of the competition lends itself to cater for all standards.

Registration for Touch Rugby at the 1st XV Rugby 4G surface is 08:30 on the Friday.

A team shall consist of a squad of up to 12 players with 6 players on the pitch at once. 3 female and 3 male players must be on the pitch.
