Cole Bursary scheme supports local member
Ben Eaton from Welsh Government Cardiff recently successfully applied to the Cole Bursary scheme run by CSSC Wales for financial support towards his challenge. He applied to the scheme and was successfully awarded £100 towards his significant out of pocket expenses. We wish Ben good luck and a safe journey with his challenge!
I am part of a group of colleagues (Le Tour De Farce) riding from London to Paris for three children's charities:
- LATCH is a charity that supports the children who are receiving treatment for cancer at the Children's Hospital for Wales and supports their families
- Scotty's Little Soldiers provides support to bereaved British Forces children and the deaf
- National Deaf Children's Society provides support for deaf children, young people and their families
The ride is from London to Paris, via Portsmouth, over the course of three days. We depart London on the 2nd of July and arrive in Paris on the evening of the 4th. It's about 80 miles a day and roughly 7-8 hours in the saddle to accommodate for the hills!

More about the fund
CSSC Wales sets aside an amount each year for a members' bursary scheme in memory of Alma and Dennis Cole. The scheme is open to all CSSC members of the Wales region. In general, the minimum amount awarded is £25 and the maximum is £100.
The fund is intended to assist and encourage members in sports and social activities recognised by the CSSC. A bursary can also be used to assist with the cost of equipment. The activity for which support can be requested need not be organised by CSSC but must be an activity or event recognised as suitable by CSSC Wales.
If you feel you're undertaking an event that meets the basic criteria above and would benefit from some support, refer to our guidance rules below and download a claim form.
