A crew of members, maybe including their friends and family who enjoy sailing for all its benefits of serendipity, challenge, adventure and the opportunity to gain or practice or improve their sailing technical skills. A skipper is provided and a mate if the crews’ experience is modest.
Crew take an active part in running the boat with the direction of, and under the watchful, skilful eye of the Skipper. This may be unlike your previous experience of Charter or Day-sails with this Club. Sea Time makes an ideal way of bridging the gap between Day-Sails & Charter. You should expect to practice your sailing skills, steering, and navigation and take responsibility for ship’s safe conduct as well as enjoy the sailing trip.
These cruises are useful to go to new cruising grounds most economically, make new friends, fill gaps in your experience, gain mileage or register night hours as required for RYA certificates. Discuss with the Skipper what technical role you want to practice, or don’t bother and just enjoy it!! It may also be possible to get sections of your logbook signed-off for specific skills.
