Volunteer Vacancy - Note-taker

Civil Service Sailing Association volunteer with hearing difficulties requires support to enable her to participate in meetings

Who will I be responsible to? The Captain of the East Coast Yacht Division (ECYD) - another volunteer

What will I be asked to do?

  • Attend General Committee (GC) meetings of the Civil Service Sailing Association (CSSA) - approx 4/5 per year
  • Attend the AGM of the CSSA
  • Whilst the meeting is in progress type notes of what is being said so that the volunteer you are supporting can read it and keep up with the progress of the meeting. This can be verbatim or paraphrased depending on typing/listening skills

Where is this role based?

  • The GC meetings take place at CSSC's Littleton Sailing Club, which is based in Chertsey.
  • The CSSA AGM takes place in London

How much time will I need to give? Approximately 2 hours for each meeting plus travelling time
What experience do I need to have?

  • Fairly fast typing skills
  • Good listening skills - if you are used to taking minutes this would probably help but is not essential
  • If you have a background within the CSSA this might help with some of the jargon but again is not essential

What support is available to me?

  • Support is available from Jennifer Fell at CSSC Head Office and from the Captain of the ECYD
  • Expenses Travel expenses incurred as a direct result of this role will be reimbursed
