Scotland Region Treasurer

CSSC actively seeks a Regional Treasurer responsible for maintaining an up to date and accurate record of all Regional financial transactions.

 

Who will I be responsible to?

 

  • The Regional Executive Committee
  • The CSSC's Management Board who appoint Regional Treasurers.

What is the role of the Regional Treasurer?

 

The Regional Treasurer is a member of the CSSC Regional Executive Committee and is responsible for maintaining an up to date and accurate record of all Regional financial transactions.

Current tasks include:

 

  • Maintaining an accurate, up to date record of all financial transactions.
  • Preparing such financial records as are required to include at least an Income and Expenditure account and a quarterly Bank Reconciliation Statement and to have these records available for checks by any CSSC Authorised Officer(s) promptly.
  • Keep all Income and Expenditure Vouchers, cheque book and paying in books secure.

  • Maintaining the bank account properly.

  • Preparing annual accounts for audit.

  • Maintaining a high level of security at all times.

  • Preparing and presenting an estimate of income and expenditure for the following year at the request of CSSC Head Office.

  • Submitting a copy of the annual accounts to CSSC Head Office promptly.

  • Ensuring that all Regional Organisers submit competition budgets and accounts in compliance with Regional Council policy.
  • Attendance at Executive Committee meetings and general meetings of the Regional Council as required
  • Presenting an up to date I & E account and balance sheet to each meeting of the executive and regional council.

How much time will I need to give?

 

 Up to 4 hours per week

What else can you tell me about the role?

 

As the Treasurer you must be well organised, able to keep records, careful when handling money and cheques, scrupulously honest, able to answer questions in meetings and confident in handling figures.

A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.

You should also be familiar with Internet Banking .

As a key supporting officer to the regional chairman it will be useful for you to be easily accessible and have access to email.

Although not essential it will help if you have:

  • a broad understanding of the structure, principles and general practices of CSSC
  • a broad understanding of the regional programme of events

What support is there for the Treasurer?

 

  • Support from the CSSC Regional Secretary, Chairman and other Executive Committee members.
  • Support from CSSC's Volunteer Development Manager
  • Support from the Regional Business Development Executive
  • An opportunity to 'buddy' with another Regional Treasurer.
