CSSC SPORTS AND LEISURE is a vibrant, dynamic organisation set up to provide our members with a myriad of sporting and leisure activities. CSSC is the largest provider of corporate sports and leisure in the U.K. Our 140,000 members are drawn from Civil Service departments, their Executive Agencies and related organisations such as BT and Royal Mail.
We play an important role in improving the health and welfare of civil servants through encouraging teamwork and commitment within their working and leisure lives. Sponsored by the Cabinet Office, CSSC relies heavily on a large team of committed volunteers who are supported by Head Office Personnel, including a team of regionally based BDEs. We are seeking an enthusiastic Business Development Executive who will be responsible for proactively developing all aspects of CSSC's business within two geographical areas including the support of national new business initiatives and special projects. The key responsibilities are:
- To create and assist in the creation of membership awareness opportunities with potential members to achieve an increase in membership levels as stipulated in annual targets. To ensure existing members are aware of the benefits of membership.
- Foster effective business relationships between key stakeholders to maximise the development of CSSC's business achievement; to include Regional, Area and Departmental volunteers, local office management and Head Office personnel.
- To identify potential local members offers and sell these benefits to existing and prospective members. To liaise with the Marketing department regarding offers and their effectiveness.
- To identify potential new sites for Health & Fitness Centres within Departmental offices. To liaise with the Corporate Development Team to maximise membership recruitment and to continue to deliver an after sales service.
- To maximise income from the national brewery discount scheme for clubs through joint initiatives and promoting the benefits to CSSC members.
- To produce regular regional publications and communication output in accordance with marketing guidelines. To supply and keep up to date information for CSSC's web site.
- To support volunteers by following guidelines in accordance with CSSC agreed practice as stated in the Volunteer policy. Regular liaison with all affiliated bodies, offering advice and support when needed.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Skills
- Previous business development/sales experience with a good understanding of effective sales/marketing techniques.
- Good interpersonal skills with an ability to build rapport quickly and develop working relationships with a wide range of people.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to organise and prioritise own work load.
- Strong IT skills e.g. Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Holds a current UK Driving Licence.
- Self motivated and driven, ability to work without supervision.
- A sense of humour!
Desirable Skills
- General knowledge of the Sports & Leisure Industry
- Experience of working with volunteers
- MS Powerpoint

Post Title: Business Development Executive
Geographical Location of Post: North West & North Wales Region
Eligibility:
EOs and corresponding Departmental Grades.
AOs and corresponding departmental grades on temporary promotion.
Terms of Transfer:
- On secondment for a minimum of 2/3 years.
- Salary comparable to EO grade pay scale plus an additional £1,500 annual allowance to cover out-of-hours work.
- A fully expensed company car is provided. However a tax liability will apply and you are required to make a contribution to the company for the private use of the vehicle.
- No transfer or removal expenses apply.
- No funding required by releasing department.
- The BDEs are normally based at their existing department location whilst on secondment. If this cannot be arranged with the host department then they will be located in a Government building or leased premises within the area.
