CSSC's priority for 2012 is all about growing membership and with the important decisions made last year, the organisation has every opportunity to grow, increase participation and increase our fund of volunteers and helpers.
This V News is dedicated to this important topic; to bring volunteers up to date and to encourage everyone within CSSC to be active in this critical area. Whether it's Linked Membership - the main focus at the moment - Member Get Member, the Public Sector or anything else, hopefully this message will help.
Please pass this email onto others you feel may be interested.
The great news is that the Member Get Member recruitment incentive has been extended until 31 May 2012. Receive a £5.00 Sainsbury's shopping card for each and every new member you encourage to sign up with CSSC - there's no limit! Please do all you can to help spread the word. Here are some success stories for you: CSSC Sports & Leisure - Member Get Member Success Stories
Benefits of Membership - don't forget how varied they are!
- Huge range of leisure and sporting activities
- Subsidy schemes allowing easy access to cycling, triathlon, open water swimming and running events.
- Subsidies on referee and coaching qualifications
- Thousands of increasingly popular discounts with Countdown - now operating a Cashback scheme too.
- Discounts with cinema chains, selected attractions and days out with CSSC's online shop
- Members' Draw
- Hundreds of work place fitness centres

The new Linked Membership scheme is starting to attract growing interest and is particularly important for Area Associations and Activity Bodies who are busily converting local Family Members and Associate Members to benefit from Linked Membership.
Each and every 'qualifying' CSSC member can link up to three members and this is a great way to share the benefits of CSSC with friends and family members whilst also benefiting from the Member Get Member reward. Have you 'linked' yet?
Imagine the positive impact to CSSC's membership if every member or every CSSC volunteer 'linked' just one of their three slots, let alone all three!

All staff working for, or retired from, the GB Public Sector can now become CSSC members. So if you know a teacher, an NHS worker, a local government worker, someone working for any of the emergency services or in the HM Armed Forces, they can all enjoy and benefit from membership. Please do let them know.
It will take some time for CSSC to formally approach the many different parts of the Public Sector. At present, our focus is primarily on the emergency services (fire, police and ambulance services). This work is seeking to build momentum with regional emergency service groupings so that awareness of CSSC can be increased and serving personnel attracted to our programme.
However, if you know a good contact in any part of the Public Sector, please mention CSSC or pass their contact details on for CSSC to pursue.
A good contact can make all the difference.

Importantly, CSSC has absolutely no intention of abandoning our traditional catchment. There are still hundreds of thousands of civil servants and related staff who could join CSSC if they properly understood what's on offer.
So if CSSC hasn't visited your workplace lately then please don't overlook the opportunity to promote membership and even to help arrange a visit to share with colleagues the latest news and benefits.
It is particularly important if an office closure, relocation or exit or early release scheme is announced so that we can remind staff to "stay with CSSC".
If you have a contact or would like a CSSC visit please contact Sam Hart at sam.hart@cssc.co.uk or call 07736 426881.
To help members and volunteers explain the benefits of membership CSSC recognises that you need the right tools and know what communications are on the horizon. The following may be helpful ….
Tools
What's in it for me?
National Savings Guide (a hard copy is sent to all volunteers)
Membership Application Form
CSSC Overview - PowerPoint Slide Show
Subsidy Scheme Poster
Training Subsidy Scheme Poster
General Public Sector Leaflet
Linked Membership Leaflet
If you need hard copies of these items please let CSSC know.
If you or your local group are able to undertake CSSC awareness, a small number of promotional items such as pens, trolley keys etc can be provided. If larger quantities are needed, these can be purchased to boost your local recruitment efforts.
Hopefully the above information will help you, your volunteer colleagues and members within your part of CSSC to get involved and to contribute to the growth of CSSC in 2012!
Thank you for all your hard work on behalf of CSSC and please spread the word - together the results will be amazing!
If you have any questions about any of the above please contact Pat Linstead on 01494 888 449 or pat.linstead@cssc.co.uk
