Yorkshire Region enters the Barbados Challenge!

This year, for the first time, Yorkshire CSSC members will have the opportunity to compete in regional qualifiers to win a subsidised trip to represent CSSC in Barbados in 2012.

The Barbados Challenge has been running for a number of years in the Southern Regions and involves members competing in a range of sports throughout the week against Bajan Civil Servants. The feedback from these events was excellent so we thought it was time a Northern Region joined in the fun and games.

The chosen sports for Yorkshire in 2012 are Beach Volleyball, Ten Pin Bowling and Pool. Entries are invited from all standards with the winners being offered the opportunity to travel to Barbados at a subsidised rate (approximately 50%). There is also the opportunity to stay for a second week and for friends and family to travel at full cost

Beach Volleyball

We held the first qualifier for Beach Volleyball on 2 July 2011 in Bridlington

Competitors enjoyed a great day out at this event, which was organised in conjunction with Leeds Volleyball Club. The weather was fabulous and it was a relaxed yet competitive event. Some people even camped out the night before to give them the edge!

As well as our competition on the day, there was also the opportunity to join in the Leeds Volleyball Club competition to win a £200 cash prize.

The winners were put together on the day through individual entries and it's fair to say had limited experience of Beach Volleyball prior to the event which just goes to show everyone is in with a chance if you take the opportunity to enter a qualifier.
