The main agenda items were:
1. Setting of Regional Entry Fees.
It was agreed that all members would be charged half the cost of staging each event and with a minimum entry fee of £2. It was also decided that all regional organisers must use the CSSC Event Team for administration of the events. This basically means that all the organiser has to do is book the venue and organise on the day.
2. Introducing a Common Subsidy Policy for Regional and National CSSC events
It was agreed by the Area Associations that they would all support a common subsidy policy and that each Area would pay 15% of their grant into a regional pot. This means that members have one port of call for claiming their expenses. It also means that we can advise members about claiming on the regional entry forms and it's planned to devise a claim form that will be part of the entrants pack. (If anyone would like a copy of the agreed policy, just ask)
3. Barbados Challenge
Yorkshire Region voted to join the Barbados Challenge in 2011, starting off in a small way with just volleyball, scrabble and ten pin bowling. This will be evaluated and we will see whether it has been a success in terms of participation and whether we want to continue in subsequent years.
4. CSSC's Strategic Outlook
David Hayday, CSSC's Director of Operations, presented on CSSC's Strategic Outlook, including the introduction of family membership in 2011.
5. Roles & Responsibilities
Emma Hermon, the Business Support Manager, spoke about the roles & responsibilities of Regions, AAs & Business Support. All the delegates now have a better understanding of how we are all pulling in a common direction. Finally Emma spoke about retention of members. She enforced the message that "CSSC is for Life" and asked all the delegates to play their part in promoting this and in alerting CSSC to any office closures or large losses of staff in departments so that we may "get in there" before the staff depart the civil service.
6. E Trading
Yorkshire Region decided to join CSSC's online ticket purchasing scheme back in July 2010 and the AAs all paid 10% of their grant into a central regional fund. Since going live in October, the sales of cinema tickets have been slow but the signs are very encouraging. The Region will be adding further tickets e.g. theme parks in 2011.
Mervyn Stanley, the Yorkshire Chairman, announced over dinner that he was standing down from office. It was quite a shock to everyone. However, he was able to fulfil one of his last but favourite duties, i.e. presenting the winners of the Chairman's Award and Area Association of the Year.
Recipients of the Chairman's Award were David Moore of East Yorkshire AA; Gordon Walker, Bowls; Barbara Leopard, former Regional Treasurer; and Adele Hirst, On Line Shopping and Mountain Biking. Area Association of the Year was East Yorkshire AA.
