CSSC Games 2011

Volunteering at the CSSC Games 2011

The CSSC Games are returning in 2011 to Loughborough University and once again we are on the look out for a team of volunteers. There are a number of volunteer roles available at the CSSC Games including Team Leaders, Zone Managers, Assistant Zone Managers, Meet & Greet, Car Park and Marshals, Ceremonies, Transport, Registration and Scorers. The benefits of volunteering include it being challenging, rewarding and fun. Volunteering also provides you with a chance to develop new talents, meet new people, improve your health and build your confidence. Expenses will be paid to all volunteers in accordance with CSSC's guidelines. Below is just a selection of comments from the last CSSC Games volunteer team.

"This was my first games and unsure what to expect. I didn't know anybody there but from the moment I arrived I was made welcome. Everybody was friendly and all had the same goal-to make it the best games yet for volunteers and competitors and in my opinion, we achieved that goal. I'm very proud to have been part of it. Thanks everyone!"

"Getting on so well with my team members - we really worked as a team."

"I enjoyed everything - the people I worked with, the Team leaders I worked for and the enjoyment of seeing it all work and that I contributed to a very successful event"

For the 2011 CSSC Games we are delighted to introduce the new Volunteer Team Leader Jon Bunyan. Here are a few words from Jon:

"I joined the Civil Service in 1986 (DHSS). As a keen sportsman I was enrolled with HASSRA and CSSC immediately, and enjoyed the benefits of participating in many sporting events. I have represented CSSC Nationally at Rugby and Basketball and have made many good friends along the way who I continue to meet up with at various CSSC events. I have been a sports organiser both nationally for rugby 7's and regionally in Wales for cricket, basketball and rugby. I have recently taken early voluntary severance from the Welsh Assembly Government to pursue my love of sport, and hope to work in the sporting field in the very near future. In the mean time I continue to retain my membership and continue to fulfil my role as Chair to the CSSC in Wales. I have recently been asked to be involved with the CSSC Games as the Volunteer Team Leader and I am really looking forward to working with the many volunteers, helping to make the Games experience an enjoyable and fun event for all involved."
