Three volunteers received a Certificate of Recognition at the SW Conference in March: Sarah Newstead, Sandra Couch and Barbara Stannaway.
I was able to get in touch with Sarah Newstead just in time before V News went to press. This is what she said: 'I received my Certificate of Recognition at the CSSC South West Regional Conference in March (as it says on the certificate) 'in recognition of her invaluable contribution to CSSC members in Salisbury.' It was presented to me by Alan Hall - the Regional Chairman. I would like to say how much I appreciate being nominated for this and for being given this certificate. I have met a lot of fantastic people whilst being Secretary for the Salisbury Area Association, who are inspirational and have helped me a great deal in my role.'
Sarah Couch and Barbara Stannaway are both members of the Mid-Cornwall Area. Sandra joined the Mid-Cornwall Area before it even existed! In the mid 1980s she attended a meeting which was being held to see if there was enough interest to start up the Area in the first place. When the Area started to fail in the mid 1990s, Sandra took over as Chair. She has supported the Area through the hard times always ensuring the members had a good selection of events to enjoy. Barbara first became a volunteer for the Area 13 years ago as the treasurer. Her determination and enthusiasm has been described as preventing the Area from coming to a grinding halt! Both Sarah and Barbara have been dedicated members of the Mid-Cornwall area for many years and it was about time they were both recognised for all their hard work.
We would like to encourage other people to nominate volunteers in their area. Click here to find out how and to fill out a nominations form
