Regional Conference Season begins

Wales

The Welsh Regional conference took place in October over two days at the Vale of Glamorgan Golf and Country Club. Big topics of the day were:

  • Common Subsidy
  • On Line Shopping
  • New membership rules - Public Sector and Linked membership
  • Celtic Games - Wales hosting it 2012 in Bangor.

The regional Chair advised the meeting of the progress made by the regional team in the past 12 months and advised the meeting that the team were now in a position to push forward on the above topics - and from the meeting the first line to be worked and determined was the Online Shopping. Jill Goudge has been made our representative for this work and has already begun working on contacting various companies and liaising with the regional team.

Team Cymru has now begun work on preparing a series of fact sheets which will be issued in a series as from January 2012 to the areas advising them of information and suggestions with regard to them contacting liaison officers in teh Public Sector and following that up with meetings and visits from CSSC staff where necessary.

The preparations for the Celtic Games are well underway with the sub committee working hard on the arrangements and regional qualifiers.

Common subsidy will be the final part of the jigsaw to be worked on before the conference next year.

During the evening the meeting were entertained with a magician and a surprise visit from Elvis Presley (who apparently.... is a member!)

South and South East

The regional conference for the South & South East was held on 21 November 2011. It was a successful one day conference at the New Ordnance Survey Building in Southampton, with most Areas in attendance; a total of 39 delegates in all.

The main topics for discussions were Finance (National, Regional & Common Subsidy Policy), a Website update, Recruitment & Retention and On-line Shopping.

Peter Mayers updated everyone on the National Finance position with David Hayday presenting on the new enhancements to the CSSC Website. Phil Wright and Andy Burdett introduced the Recruitment & Retention section providing details on current membership figures for each Area.

Each Area also gave an update on what they had been doing and what was in the pipeline.

The conference also had excellent support from Head office with Emma Hermon, Pat Linstead, Matt Taylor and John Whittaker, Executive Vice-Chairmen in attendance.
