It's been a great year... but times have changed: My departure
Daniel Warden
Hi all,
I have enjoyed my time with CSSC Bournemouth Area Association over the last year and few months, sadly though with a culmination of changes in my circumstances I have decided to step down as Secretary for the Bournemouth Area and as a member of the committee.
I feel we have all advanced a very long way from the first meeting I attended where I believed I was only enquiring about the secretary's role and was then appointed - a volunteer is ten times better than a pressed man.
In the time I have spent with you all we have accomplished a lot - and spent a lot.
Thanks to your joint efforts I have: felt like a 'dingbat' at the last AGM (good quiz Berewyn!); I can now play golf (still trying to work out the scoring); I have experienced the Perfect Storm off Bournemouth Pier whilst attending the air show with no planes; I have enjoyed Poole fireworks while listening to the story of the Marchioness Disaster (cheers Geoff); I have watched AFC Bournemouth nearly win (90th minute equaliser - just unlucky); I have sampled the cuisine of Winton Con Club whilst playing 'Mad Grabs' with the treasurer and his wife (not as it sounds - very good game though Malcolm!) and so much more... there is simply too much to list.
I feel the Area will continue to grow with your hard work and the new members that are interested in helping too.
The reasons for my departure are many but none to do with the CSSC. My personal and work lives have changed - hopefully for the better. I am now engaged to Michelle, we are moving house this year and have a wedding to plan. I have also been appointed in a new role working for the Royal Navy's FLEET HQ in Cyber Security. My new role requires extensive travel throughout the UK and Overseas, there is a very steep learning curve in the first few years as I have stepped into a new industry from my specialism before.
So, sadly I will not be able to offer my time anymore as a volunteer, I will review my position after a year and see whether or not I can help with a limited role or look to rejoin the committee. This has been a hard decision for me to make as the time with the CSSC has been very enjoyable - thank you to everyone and good luck for the coming year!
