BDE Becomes Volunteer For 2012!

We are thrilled to announce that one of our own, Francis Smith, Business Development Executive for CSSC has been given a place as a volunteer for 2012!!

Congratulations Francis!

I asked him to tell us a little about what exactly he will be doing and how he managed to hear so early, because most volunteers aren't being selected until later in the year. This is what he had to say:

"Sitting at work one afternoon I logged onto the Volunteer Scotland Website to see what information I could find. I noticed an advert for a Selection Event Volunteer (SEV) for the 2012 Olympics. What is this I wondered? An SEV is a volunteer who will help with the selection of Games Makers for the Olympics. The role sees you based at one of the selection centres across the UK for up to six shifts and you interview potential Games Makers to see if they will fit into a volunteer role at 2012. I applied for this role as I thought it would be good for my CV and if my running is going well, who knows I could be at the Olympics so didn't really want to be a Games Maker. I was invited to a presentation and interview for this role in February and I then had to wait only a week to find out if I was going to be part of the Olympic process. An email arrived announcing that I was successful!!! I will be based at the Selection Event in Scotland between the 4th and 15th May 2011. This may mean that I will see some CSSC members/volunteers for interviews so look out for me!

It is an amazing chance to enhance my skills and to say that I have been part of the Olympic process as a pre-volunteer.
