This is why Anne Young has been chosen as an award winner:

Anne has been involved in a lot of projects over the years for the Scotland region and her AA.  Here are some of the key things she has been involved in:

1. Regional Secretary
2. Area Secretary Central & Forth Valley AA

4. Celtic Games Sub Committee
5. Scottish Conference
6. Inter Regional Challenge
7. Offers for Members
8. Inter Area Event

10. Recruitment of new members

It is not till you put the things this volunteer has done on paper that you start to realise the magnitude of her contribution to CSSC. Anne has been the front face of the Scotland regional committee as the secretary for over 7 years and is highly involved in supporting other volunteers. She produces all information for meetings timely and has a fantastic relationship with the BDE and BDA that support the Scotland Region. On an Area front, Anne also looks after Central & Forth Valley AA as the secretary with this role she has attended and supported the BDE in recruitment events at the Bathgate Benefit Centre, introduced new offers for members and attended events on behalf of the committee.

Anne was highly involved in the organisation of the Celtic Games and when the coordinator was struggling Anne stepped into support and encourage the volunteer. At The CSSC Games, she was lead volunteer and worked closely with the BDE who was overall manager; she managed the volunteers and made sure events were running very smoothly. It is testament that the other nations congratulated Anne of delivering a superb Games and one to remember for years. In the lead up to The Games, Anne took time off to coordinate the Celtic Games qualifying event along with the BDE. She was scoring events and managing the time so that each member had the chance to take part in as many events as possible.

Anne’s contribution to CSSC over the past years has been superb; she lives and breathes CSSC, her interpersonal skills with other volunteers is second to none and she can turn a negative person into a positive one by providing a good knowledge on CSSC policy’s that she communicates confidently. Anne focuses on networking with new volunteers and members to make sure CSSC is promoted and benefited.

Anne has been a fantastic ambassador for CSSC.

This is what Anne had to say when she found out about her award: “When I got a letter from the department of education, I thought it might be a thank you letter for volunteering at the CSSC Games. When I read that I had been given a Merit Award I was surprised. I didn't think that I had been a volunteer long enough to get one! We had a regional meeting a couple of days after I received the letter; it was really nice for Francis - who nominated me - to be able to share the news with all the regional volunteers.”
