CSSC Family Membership - What's Going On?jurafamily-ride

Whilst the issue of Family Membership has been aired many times in the past, the prospect of a CSSC Family Membership scheme is finally a genuine prospect. Earlier this year, the CSSC Management Board approved a 'concept' paper for Family Membership and has now asked that specific proposals be brought forward so that these can be tested, consultation with members and volunteers can be undertaken, and that the matter can be one of the main items of discussion at the 2011 CSSC Annual Conference in June next year.

The expected next stages are as follows:

October & November 2010

Further research and development work is undertaken leading to the creation of a specific set of proposals for a national CSSC Family Membership scheme that can be considered by the Management Board in December.

December 2010

The Management Board consider the proposals at their December meeting and, if approved, these proposals are then cleared for further development.

January to March 2011

The proposals are then tested and refined with small groups of members and volunteers to establish if any issues have been overlooked.

April & May 2011

The proposals are issued to all affiliate groups ahead of Annual Conference in June along with an outline of the intended implementation plan.

June 2011

The Family Membership proposals are discussed and considered at conference and, as necessary, rule changes are proposed at the 2011 AGM.

July 2011

Having regard to the discussions and agreements at Conference, development work on the project is finalised and an implementation plan confirmed and circulated.

As colleagues will appreciate, this is a major and important piece of work and one that we need to consider carefully if it is to benefit CSSC for the future.
