What Is ROKO?
The ROKO Healthclubs chain is owned by The Sports & Leisure Group Ltd (SLG). SLG is owned 50% by CSSC and 50% by Penta Sports Ltd partnership. SLG was set up to redevelop CSSC sites, providing modern facilities for our members as well as the general public. As a shareholder, CSSC can influence the policy of SLG and nominates directors to sit on the Board but is not involved in the day to day management of the business. ROKO's directly employed management team is responsible for developing and running the new ROKO Healthclubs and sportsgrounds.

How Is It Going?
As of June 2007 there are four ROKO clubs in operation at Portsmouth, Nottingham and Gillingham. They have a total of around 16,500 members, of whom about 1000 are CSSC members. Other CSSC sites are being considered for development by ROKO.
What Does It Mean For the Local Area Association?
Once the CSSC club has been closed, the local AA no longer has the burden of running and financing it and all past debts relating to the club are written off. The annual grant can then be spent on providing whatever activities the local members want. The AA also benefits from any increase in grant as new members join CSSC to benefit from the reduced rates at ROKO.
