Volunteer Vacancy: CSSC National Organiser - Badminton

CSSC actively seeks a National Organiser for Badminton to lead and manage the development and delivery of Badminton within the CSSC sports and leisure programme.

The role provides the opportunity to influence the future development of Badminton within CSSC whilst also ensuring that existing elements such as the Open Championships and Open Team event, as well as other parts of the programme are relevant and of interest to members and prospective members.

Like all nationally supported activities, CSSC is keen for Badminton to attract new and growing levels of interest throughout the country.

The Event Team will be pleased to develop with the successful applicant a suitable support structure for the role. This will include specific services and support provided by the Event Team and other Head Office departments as well as the identification of a small team of key assistants performing roles that support and compliment the overall National Organiser role.

Main Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Take lead responsibility for the management and development of Badminton within CSSC
  • Make annual funding and programme recommendations to the Sport & Leisure Committee and other submissions on an ad hoc basis as required
  • Build and maintain a network of CSSC volunteers interested in delivering and developing Badminton within CSSC
  • As appropriate, oversee the delivery of all main strands of national Badminton activity such as the Open Championships.
  • Act as principal national contact within CSSC for matters relating to Badminton within the CSSC community
  • Co-ordinate and assist in the collation and distribution of material via variety of media (including the CSSC website) relating to Badminton activity, including information relating to forthcoming events, results, reports etc.
  • Undertake the role in a manner that follows CSSC rules and policies and that provides support and recognition to volunteers in a way that meets organisational expectations.
  • You will be working closely with the CSSC Head Office Event Team in the execution of the above.

Estimated Time Commitment:

It is difficult to quantify the time commitment needed at this stage. CSSC will be wish to help limit the time burden as much as possible by facilitating teleconferencing and other measures and this will also, in part, be determined by the way the role is organised by the successful candidate. However, it is likely that an attendance commitment of between 5 and 10 days per annum is likely, plus other background activity on an ad hoc basis.

Out of Pocket Expenses: These will be reimbursed based on CSSC's T&S policy and the approved budget for CSSC Badminton.
