Merit Awards 2008Clive Dennis 2008 Merit Award

Presented by CSSC Chairman, David Bell, at CSSC's Annual Conference 2009

Clive Dennis

Clive was elected to the Management Committee of Chesterfield Area Association in 1975 and was continually involved with the AA, primarily as Secretary from 1978 to 1999 and then Vice Chairman until the closure of the AA's sports ground in 2007.

In 1988 he was appointed Chairman of the East Midlands region until it merged with West Midlands in 1996. He became Vice Chairman of the new Midlands region and was appointed chairman in 1998; a role he holds to this day.

Despite his commitment to Chesterfield and the Midlands region, he also found time during 1990 to 2005 to be a member of CSSC's Management Committee. During his tenure, he effectively used his knowledge and experience as a member of the Estates Standing Committee.

Clive has also been very actively involved in St John's Ambulance since 1977, where he has held various roles including being a member of the National Training Team. His considerable experience of managing volunteers has been invaluable and he is a key member of CSSC's Volunteer Committee.

David Graham David Graham Merit Award 2008

It is primarily for his significant role as a founder and continuing member of the CSSC London Management Board that David received a Merit Award.

David has been an active CSSC member since 1959 and was the driving force behind the MOD Aquila Sports and Social Club for over 30 years. It is fair to say that, without his unstinting and energetic input, the Club would not have provided the wide range of activities and opportunities for nearly as long as it did. David was also crucial to the transformation of Aquila across to Bromley Area Association.

His willingness and capabilities as a volunteer are also reflected in his recent appointment as chairman of the new CSSC South and South East Regional Management Board.
