Have you got what it takes to be a 2012 Games Maker?2012 volunteering image

Up to 70,000 volunteers will be recruited for the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games. Volunteers will be called Game Makers in recognition of the vital role they will play in ensuring the Games are successful.

There will be two types of Games Maker; specialist roles (including sports-specialists, anti-doping, press experts) and generalist roles (such as spectator assistants, ticket checkers).

For the specialist roles, LOCOG has been working with the relevant governing bodies and associations to pre-identify suitable candidates, and applications for these roles opened on 27 July. Applications for generalist positions are now being invited.

Full details are on the London 2012 website.

CSSC is determined to play its part in supporting these Games and aims to provide tangible support to all members that are selected as volunteers for London 2012. This support is likely to be in the form of assistance with travel and accommodation costs (if needed), but much will depend on the needs of those involved and the numbers that are selected.

If you are selected as a London 2012 volunteer or hear of a colleague that is, please remember to let CSSC know by contacting Hedley Featherstone at hedley.featherstone@cssc.co.uk or by calling 07802 482330. We need to know in good time so that we can plan how best to support each and every one of you.

If you do apply to be a volunteer at London 2012, good luck with your application; let's show how CSSC can make a positive contribution to the greatest sporting show on earth.
