Getting off to a good start
Getting the right volunteer into the right role at the right time needs planning and takes valuable time. So, do you breathe a sigh of relief that you’ve found the right person – then just let them get on with the role? Or do you support them in the first few months of their role to help ensure that they settle in easily and enjoy doing the role well? The last thing you want is to lose volunteers because they feel overwhelmed, undervalued or their contribution is not recognised.
Induction should be a planned process that allows a new volunteer time to assimilate and understand all the information that they are being given. CSSC is keen to engage the help of a number of Area Associations and Sports bodies in the second half of 2011 to take part in a one hour induction clinic with their committees to gain a better insight into how CSSC should approach the important issue of effective volunteer induction.
Please contact Hedley email: hedley.featherstone@cssc.co.uk tel:07802 482330 if you would like to help CSSC with this important issue.
