What qualities are needed?

The Treasurer should have:

  • Adequate time to perform the role
  • Enthusiasm
  • Good organisation skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Honesty and integrity
  • An ability to keep records
  • An ability to handle money and cheques carefully
  • A good eye for detail
  • Confidence with numbers.

What does the Treasurer do?

The treasurer is ultimately responsible for insuring that the finances of the association or club are organised and managed effectively through a specific and separate bank account. The treasurer manages all income, including

  • Receipt of any CSSC membership grant
  • Ensuring that all cash and cheques are deposited promptly in the Association's bank or building society account.
  • Issuing receipts for all money received and recording this information

The Treasurer manages all expenditure including:

  • Paying the bills and recording the information.

Further roles include:

  • Reports regularly to the Association's committee on the Association's financial status
  • Prepares year end statements of accounts to present to the auditor.
  • Present the audited accounts to the AGM.
