This Association only begun to turn itself around in early 2007 but did so with such panache and vigour it was awarded the Russell Scott Trophy for the best all round AA in 2007.

Good practice ideas

  • During 2007 the Area Association ran many events for its members and their families including weekend trips to Ostend and Amsterdam and a wide range of sports events.
  • The Association boasts a varied Members Offers programme including two static caravans for which members can receive a 25% hire discount, subsidised flying lessons and a £10 subsidy scheme for any activity or social a member want to do.
  • Members were able to apply for a subsidy of up to £20 towards match tickets to see home league matches for local Championship football teams.
  • Communication was key to this Area's success. Members were regularly contacted by newsletter and email coupled with the introduction of a 8 page leaflet to acquaint members with the Association.
  • During 2007 the Association supported a recruitment campaign which helped realise 271 new members
