Conference Breakout Sessions
The Conference Breakout Session had a dual theme, building on past work to help every part of the CSSC community to be clear about the roles and responsibilities of Area Associations, Departmental Associations, Regions and Sport & Recreation Bodies, as well as helping to capture thoughts and ideas to help address the challenges and opportunities now faced by CSSC.
Roles & Responsibilities
In 2009, Conference looked at roles and responsibilities for Areas. This year, draft roles and responsibilities for Regions and Departmental Associations were circulated and discussed. Some helpful observations were captured and these will be considered before final versions are published later this year.
If you want to contribute to the debate, please take a look at the three 'Roles & Responsibility' documents (links below) and send any comments, observations or suggestions to: headoffice@cssc.co.uk by 31 August 2010.
Once Regions and DAs are confirmed, a final set of roles and responsibilities for Sports & Recreation Bodies will be created to complete the set.

Challenges & Opportunities
The second part of the Breakout Session centred on how CSSC can improve what we offer to members and how all parts of the organisation, from the individual volunteer to the National Management Board can all play their part.
Everyone rolled up their sleeves and contributed to a lively and fun session where thoughts and ideas papered walls throughout the hotel. The essential question was how the six main stakeholder groups within CSSC could make a positive contribution. The six being Area Associations, Departmental Associations, Regions, Sports & Recreation Bodies, CSSC Centrally and, last but by no means least, individual volunteers and members.
All of the ideas are being collated and will be assessed and evaluated, and are certain to influence what and how we move forward in the weeks, months and years to come.
