Forget the 'Fantastic Four' York AA's intrepid foursome breath life into the Area Association

A number of years ago when the CSCS's sports ground in York closed the Area Association (AA) were left with an uncertain future. The AA had for years struggled to survive with the member's entire rebate used to keep the Club going. With the burden of the Club behind them the AA quickly realised they would now have money to spend on members and help the sporting sections find new premises. However, many of the old committee had left and the AA was very fortunate to gain new volunteers to fill the vacant positions. These volunteers helped turn the AA around and give the members what they wanted. On the 6 August the AA hosted an evening meal attended by CSSC's Volunteer Development Manager, Hedley Featherstone, who presented Certificates of Recognition to Christina Steveni, Louise Wreglesworth, David Bish and Graham Hughes for their combined efforts in turning the fortunes of York AA around. The awards were presented at a Dinner in J Bakers Restaurant attend by the four winners and their partners along with York AA Chairman Tony Tate.

The AA also provides members with discounts to all CSSC National Events such as Hill Walking. Once again the AA is giving CSSC Members £5.00 off their Christmas Meals and new this year is a trip on the North Yorks Moors Railway Santa Special, these two offers are proving to be very popular.
