Knowing what's happening with CSSC membership issues is all important if volunteers are going to be best placed to advise members, potential members and other volunteers. The following snippets reflect the latest developments:
HM Armed Forces
As you may have read in the recent edition of Leisure Scene, members of HM Armed Forces (Army, Navy and Air Force) are now eligible to join CSSC as full members. So if you know members of the military who might be interested in joining CSSC, why not explain the benefits and sign them up?
Direct Mailing to Retired Civil Service
As a pilot exercise, CSSC arranged for a mailing to be sent in January to thousands of recently retired civil servants. The mailing gave a brief overview of the benefits of membership and a specific invitation to join or re-join. Although it's still early days and the final outcomes will need to be carefully assessed, it has been good to see lots of new memberships stemming from the pilot.
Family Membership
Proposals for Family Membership will be considered at the CSSC Annual Conference in June. At the moment, the outline proposals are being pre-assessed by a selection of Area Associations, Departmental Associations and Sports & Recreation Bodies. Over 500 lay members were also randomly invited to assess the outline proposals, with the combined feedback leading to final proposals for circulation in late April/early May.
Membership Expansion
Proposals to expand membership to include staff within the Public Sector will also be brought forward for Annual Conference in June. Further details of these proposals will also be circulated prior to Conference.
As ever, if you have any queries about CSSC membership eligibility, feel free to call CSSC Customer Services on 01494 888 444 who will be happy to help.
