Yorkshire Crown Green Bowls Singles Results

This event was held at Cleckheaton Sports Club on Thursday 3 June.

We had a lovely day on Thursday and the weather was hot, hot, hot!

The organiser, Christine took her George Forman grill and cooked bacon butties to start the day off.

The competition was run as 4 groups and Christine stepped in as one of the players couldn't make it to even the numbers. Each group played a round robin with the winner of each group going through.

This stage of the competition was completed just before lunch and then in the afternoon the two semi-finals were played and then the final.

Many thanks go to Mervyn Stanley (Yorkshire Chairman), who arrived just as the final began as we were ahead of schedule and for presenting the trophy. Thanks also to Ruth Bentley (B.D.E.) and Irena Gorbrun (Yorkshire Secretary) for coming to support us even though they didn't manage to see a bowl, due to the schedule finishing earlier than expected.
