Yorkshire Joins the Barbados Challenge

Volunteers Needed to Run Qualifying Events

At the recent conference for volunteers within the Region, it was agreed that Yorkshire should join the Barbados Challenge.

We decided to trial the competition by starting small. The events chosen were Mixed Volleyball - mixed team of 4 players, Ten Pin Bowling - mixed pairs & Scrabble - mixed pairs.

This means that we could potentially send a team of 8 CSSC members to Barbados plus 4 organisers making a total squad of 12.

Although the cost of sending the team to Barbados will be heavily subsidised by the Area Associations in Yorkshire, competitors will still have to pay at least 50% of the cost so this is not a "freebie"

Because of the high costs of sending even a small team, minimum participation levels will need to be attained in the qualifying events.

Volunteers

To make this successful, the Yorkshire Region will need dedicated, hard working volunteers to get the 2011 qualifying events off the ground. (The 2011 winners will travel to Barbados in 2012.)

It's envisaged that the volunteers will work with Area Associations to arrange local heats leading to Regional finals for each event.

If you think that you are the person to make this happen, then contact ruth.bentley@cssc.co.uk stating which event you are interested in organising.
