Congratulations to the well deserved winner of the Russell Scott Trophy for 2009 - South Yorkshire Area Association.

South Yorkshire AA was only set up in 2007 but has already risen to the challenge presented to them.

It has has won its respective Regional AA of the Year Award for the last two years

The AA sought from the start to engage with the many departments across the city. Seven departments are currently represented on its committee.

The AA offered many social activities during 2009 including discounted tickets for X Factor, Strictly Come Dancing and a Girls Aloud concert.

Sport also attracted the AA's interest including a discount scheme for a local gym, a scheme to help members fund their children to attend football coaching and discounted tickets for several prestigious rugby fixtures.

Several charities benefitted from the AA's efforts.

New members receive a personal letter from the AA chairman welcoming them and outlining the benefits available through the AA.

Since its setting up the AA has remained focussed on increasing its membership. All new members receive a £5 Love 2 Shop voucher. The AA's membership has increased from 912 to 1518 in 2 years.
