Bob Jones wins Brown Bowl at Llyn Trawsfynydd
Bob Jones received the much coveted Brown Bowl from Stan McCart, President of the International Fly Fishing Association at the Autumn Match on 5 September. Whilst this international event is a team event, the Brown Bowl is awarded to the angler who has the heaviest basket of trout on the day and is the highest achievement in UK competitive fly fishing.
Moc Morgan OBE Wales’ Team Manager said 'Bob fished exceptionally well in the match. He was drawn to fish in a boat with an outstanding Scottish angler and Bob outfished him using a Di 3 sinking line with his trademark orange blobs and sparklers at the business end. His contribution to the Team effort was immense and I am so pleased that he won the Brown Bowl on his home water.'
Bob caught 7 trout (6 rainbows and 1 brown) weighing 11 lbs – this was 2 lbs clear of his nearest rival. He has qualified to fish for the Welsh Fly fishing team on many occasions (he has had 9 caps to date) and this is the first time any CSSC member from Wales has won this award.
