Game, Set, Match!

CSSC Wales Tennis Competition

29 April 2009 at the Welsh National Tennis Centre, Cardiff

Men's Singles: Karl Williams defeated last year's champion, Nigel Williams in the Semi Final and then went on to beat Martin Hollister in the final 6-2.

Ladies' Singles: Joyce Langham successfully defended her title by beating Nathallie Brouillette 6-1.

Men's Doubles: Anthony Hillman and Karl Williams defeated Gavin Seymour and Greg Kelly by 7 games to 6 in a very hard fought final. Anthony and Karl now go forward to represent CSSC Wales at the Celtic Games to be held in Dublin in June.

Ladies' Doubles: Joyce Langham and Nathallie Brouillette combined well to beat Sarah Martin and Tracey Barry 6-1 in the ladies' final. As Joyce is unable to attend the Celtic Games (Wimbledon calls) Sarah Martin will partner Nathallie at the Games in June.

Many thanks to the players who entered and for their enthusiasm. The competition went well, despite a noisy varsity match between Cardiff and Swansea Universities taking place on the adjacent courts.

Congratulations to all the winners and I wish them all luck in the Celtic Games and, for those that enter, at the CSSC Championships, which are held at Chiswick, 30 July to 2 August this year.
