Barbados Challenge Update - 19 August 2011
I am really pleased to let the Oxford Area members know that once again we are being represented in Barbados in 2012. The Rounders tournament took place on 5th August and following a day of competition the final was played out between two teams from Rutherford Laboratory.
The winning Team was The Bat Fastards who beat The Oddballs by just half a Rounder. Many congratulations to them and hopefully they will continue the success that we have seen over the past couple of Barbados Challenges.
If you fancy joining them in Barbados next year it's not too late. The Football competition takes place in September and teams are still able to enter. I know we already have one team entered and it would be great to see two Oxford Area teams competing in the final as well.
Additionally the Barbados Challenge Sailing event takes place on 10th September and the 10 Pin Bowling is on 11th November, with Shore Angling 18th November. The winners of all these events will be able to go to Barbados in 2012 to play their finals.
Finally if those events don't float your boat, I'm going to try to run a trip to Hastings in November to the Barbados Indoor Sports Day. There will be 5 events taking place that day - Darts, Crib, Dominoes, Scrabble during the day and General Knowledge Quiz in the evening. You can enter any of these, so why not do one of the day competitions and then enter the quiz with friends in the evening.
Entertainment and food will be laid on and I'm negotiating cheap (possibly free) accommodation in the Premier Inn opposite the Hastings Social Club so we won't need to trawl back on the coach the same day.
Please let me know if you would like to enter any of the competitions and especially if you plan to go to Hastings in November so I can gauge numbers for the coach and accommodation.
