Barbados Challenge Sports Quiz Results 2008
| The above event was this year held at the Civil Service Club, Taunton on Friday 14th November. There were initially 12 entries but sadly 3 Teams dropped out and so the event which also doubled up as a qualifier for the South West squad for the trip to Barbados in October 2009 ultimately had 7 four man Teams competing. 3 differing Cheltenham sides plus 1 from Torbay were supplemented by teams from the Departmental Associations of EFRA, CSA and DWP. The Quiz was lengthy and by no means easy comprising of 18 eight question Rounds plus a Blockbuster Round and a Picture Round during the interval. The fact that the lowest placed Team achieved almost 50% accuracy in answers speaks volumes for the ability of those involved with the winners achieving an extremely impressive 80% success rate. Almost from the start the Torbay squad (REGGAE BOYZ) of Peter Pearse, Tim Flavin, Rob Stone and Dave Eddy forged out in front and were never caught running out comfortable and deserved winners at the end with 260.5 points. 2nd on 212 points were the DWP squad (COCKNEY, BRUMMIE, WORZEL and PORTLANDER) with Cheltenham’s THE LONG SHOTS edging out Goldenball’s for 3rd place with 189.5 points.
