SW Game Angling Qualifier - Results

This year's event saw a good entry of 29 anglers take to the water at Chew Valley Reservoir.

Despite the forecast of a stiff breeze and the possibility of showers, all the entrants stayed dry and the day got progressively calmer and warmer. Most boats managed the odd fish or two, but there was only one bag limit of eight fish. The total rod average was just over 2 fish per entrant.

The winner this year was Nigel Evans with a limit of 8 rainbows, weighing 17lb 5oz. The runner up was Ian Foxley with 5 rainbows weighing 11lb 11oz. Third was Martin Blanchard with 5 rainbows and 1 brown with 11lb 8oz. The heaviest fish of the day was a rainbow of 3lb 7oz caught by Gary Pearson.

Trophies were presented this year by Mark Packer-Hughes who has agreed to become the Game Angling Regional Organiser from next year onwards. The picture shows (from left to right) Mark, Gary Pearson, Nigel Evans and Ian Foxley.

Thanks to everyone who attended, and best wishes to Nigel and Ian for the final at Eyebrook in August.
