Exciting volunteer opportunities available

Salisbury Area Association has 2 exciting volunteer opportunities for the secretary and treasurer roles. Both the outgoing secretary and treasurer will be available to support anyone wishing to get involved and supply further information on the roles, contact details can be found below.

Secretary's role

Basic responsibilities/duties (required)

  • To advertise and communicate CSSC events and schemes to all members in the area.

  • Take minutes at committee meetings (4 meetings per year plus AGM meeting)

  • Produce minutes to be disseminated to members (usually via e-mail before meetings).

  • Keep in regular contact with Head Office

  • Answer queries from area members

  • Support the treasurer and chairman on the committee

Additional responsibilities/duties (not required but recommended)
  • Attend South-West regional conference (2 days a year)

  • Attend National conference (2 days a year)

  • Amount of time required: it depends if there is a meeting or not in the month. Meetings usually last approx 1hr and the minutes take no time at all to type up as there is a template to follow. 4 hours per month (with a meeting) is probably the maximum I spend on CSSC duties (mostly e-mailing members and answering questions etc). Help will be given from the outgoing secretary and from HQ.

If interested in the secretary role, please contact Sarah Newstead on slnewstead@mail.dstl.gov.uk

    Treasurer's role

    Basic responsibilities/duties (required)
    • To keep accurate records of accounts of the Salisbury area

    • Provide audited accounts to head office once a year

    • To agree grant amounts with clubs in the area

    • To write and sign cheques along with other committee members

    • To make sure the money is spent but not overspent

    • Attend committee meetings (4 meetings per year plus AGM meeting)

Additional responsibilities/duties (not required but recommended)
    • Attend South-West regional conference (2 days a year)

    • Attend National conference (2 days a year)

Amount of time required: very little time on a regular basis as all transaction are made by cheque, however drawing up accounts at the end of the year does require some effort. Currently with no cash and no loans to consider the accounts are simple, no accounting silks are required (documents are managed in Excel) and help will be given from the outgoing treasurer and from HQ

If interested in the treasurer role please contact Gill Hartley on mghartley@dstl.gov.uk
