A dive club in Amesbury made the long journey to Gozo just off Malta in October, to dive in some of the
warm crystal clear waters that Mediterranean diving offers.
During the 7 day expedition the 10 man team dived many of the amazing dive sites on the island, including the Karwela car ferry, the Inland Sea, Blue Hole and some of the caves off Mgarr Ix Xini.
Diver, Jon Underwood said '' The variety of the diving and abundance of the sea life made the trip to Gozo more than worthwhile. ''
The Gozo landscape is easy to grasp, a small yellow limestone rock reaching up to 176 m out of the sea. With rugged coastlines and many sheer cliffs that drop vertically from 40m to almost 160m below sea level, these are the main characteristics of this 15 km by 7 km island, and this unique landscape produces some awe inspiring diving locations.
Diver, Ross Walker said '' Diving in warm waters with vast rock formations both above and below the surface, especially the Blue Hole was spectacular, a trip that I will remember for some years to come .''
The Salisbury Civil Service Sub Aqua Club [SCSSAC] meet every Monday evening throughout the year at the Boscome Down Rec Club and offers not only regular diving trips around the UK and overseas suited to all diving levels. The club also has a number of instructors who can take divers through a multitude of diving courses. Contact the club by e-mail to info@salisburydiveclub.co.uk for more information.
